The Evolution of Final Fantasy [15] Leviathan

Part 15 in a series that takes a look at the history of one of the greatest gaming franchises of all time, chronicling the many recurring themes, characters and monsters that have appeared over the years. This entry focuses on the many incarnations of the water snake thing, Leviathan. Enjoy!

Notes regarding this video (please read before commenting!):

- For the entire series, I have simply gathered video footage from various sources on YouTube and compiled them together. I've done this only to entertain the many fans of Final Fantasy here on YouTube, so with that said, many thanks to all the folks who took the time to record the game footage.

- Again, for the whole series, I've focused solely on the main games. Remakes and updates of those games are featured, but I've opted to skip games like Tactics, FFX-2 and such. I had to draw the line somewhere to keep a reasonable length.

- As usual, DS video is kind of tricky to capture, so the footage for FFIII isn't direct-feed quality. I used the best I could find.

- Although not found in the original release, the extra boss fight added in the later remakes of FFIV has been included.

- Finding FFXI footage without some terrible song playing throughout is tough to find, so I opted to use the opening of the avatar battle and forego the 2-hour and weapon skills.

- Yep. Big airship in FFXII. Again.

FFVII still the best! Quality's not that great but storyline and gameplay was awesome!

Personally, I like FFXII out of all the main Final Fantasy games because of all the races in the game, the massive world to explore, the story, the technological advancement of the airships, the improvement on the voice syncing with the lip movements of the characters in game, the battle system... The list goes on and on. So what if Bahamut got turned into a giant airship? At least it's a visually stunning airship! I mean, come on! Balthier's a pretty awesome character, right?

Leviathan has always been and will probably always be my favorite Esper, Summon, GF, Eidolon et. al.
