Elateroidea, Elateridae, Alaus oculatus, the eyed elater or the eyed click beetle. Sorry for lack of italics in the scientific name, was in a bit of a rush to get this video posted. Found this spiffy specimen at Family Reunion 2009 on my uncle's property, figured it was a better video than the click beetle video previously posted, so I decided to share this one. With thanks to Dr. Wolfe from Georgia College and State University, who taught me entomology (or tried to anyways) and got me to purchase the immensely helpful Borror and Delong's Introduction to the Study of Insects, 7th edition.
