Making stuff up? stats please - wikipedia - Highest income - Per Capita is per person, not family. Since we're on a senator from Illinios we should use 32 which is 100,718 - assuming 2 family income that's > 200k AVERAGE income, but that's slightly unfair I agree before you say.

I'm sure sections of MANY major cities (small sections) have > 200k avg incomes. Take a tour of Beverly Hills.. :-)

Don't get me wrong - I said they didn't struggle. But making ends meet on $200k is relative to where you live and the cost of living. In India on $200k you could live like a kind, have servants, etc. In rural America you could also clearly live like a king.

Move to an expensive major city though and a family income of 200k isn't rich - In fact it's not THAT far above average.

Like I said, consider student loans of who knows how much and they aren't struggling but also aren't super rich.

And compare that to McCain, Bush, Reagan (I don't know for fact, but think Hollywood today, is anyone struggling? He WAS a quite successful movie star among other things).

They also seemed to have no rich families behind them, at least not that I've seen nor heard any rumors of - So that means in college especially they likely struggled with finances.

McCain may have also pre marriages, but his family was fairly elite in the military and although perhaps not rich not struggling ever.

Yes, some suburbs might be higher. But if you can't afford it, you shouldn't live in them. If you do, then you're dumb. There's no requirement for a senator to buy in beverly hills and live beyond his means.

Yes, the difference there would be that none of them (Reagan, McCain, and Bush) have claimed to not be able to make ends meat on their incomes.

Ok, now you're just making stuff up. Average household income in New York, LA and Chicago are all under 50K/yr. What city is this you're talking about? 200K/yr puts them in the top 3% of income earners. If they can't make ends meat on that It's because they've made poor financial decisions.
