Florida just passed a law helping condo associations and homeowners get some relief from tight budgets. The new law allows condo & homeowner assocations to aggressively go after people who aren't paying. The associations can now collect rent from tenants to go against outstanding balances. They can evict tenants who don't pay. The association can collect 12 months of back maintenance instead of the previous law allowing only 6 months. Many people facing foreclosure stopped paying their monthly association dues, leading to very tight budgets. The associations were almost powerless to collect the outstanding dues.
Have they the read law? Due to its vagueness it cannot legally be enforced without violating landlord Tenant and various other civil liberties. Only in Florida are people this stupid.
