thx for the tutorial man.. it was very usefull, especially that you showed that you can make larger terrains that automaticly get positioned correctly. One thing though, i just tried it and you can just export the terrain as a .3ds model from sketchup 8.. so why do the extra work? it works fine to export as an 3ds model directly.

@fordaloveable tbh, the old sketchup .3ds import is really messed up, so back then I have to look for an alternative.
