From May 26 to May 29, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer will be visiting Denmark.
On May 27 Steny Hoyer visited the Danish Parliament, Folketinget, where he signed the guestbook. While visiting the Folketing, Steny Hoyer gave a press conference. At the conference Mr. Hoyer was asked if he thought that there would be a global agreement on climate issues signed in Copenhagen at the upcoming COP15 Conference in December. In the video below you can hear what Mr. Hoyer replied.
Later he was received by Her Majesty, Queen Margrethe II at Amalienborg and also met with Minister for Foreign Affairs Per Stig Møller (conservative) and long time environmentalist social democrat Svend Auken.
On May 28 Mr. Hoyer met with Minister for Climate and Energy, Connie Hedegaard and Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
If you think Mr. Hoyer’s last name sounds Danish you are quite right. Mr. Hoyer is of Danish / American descent and still has relatives in Denmark, whom he also met with during his stay here.
