  • The Alarm was one of the best bands in the 80thies, many compaired them with the irish band U2.

I find the Alarm to be better then U2.

But The Alarm did not sold their soul for famous and wealth like U2 did.

The Alarm was honest to their fans and to that real music.

  • For me as an Irish man, U2 were over for me with Rattle and Hum. I grew up listenimg to U2, The Joshua Tree was a classic album but... I agree with you, The Alarm WERE a great anthem band. The Alarm will never be over, a great great band.

  • Was watching American Bandstand in 1983 when these 4 Welshmen walked on with the big hair. Literally changed my life. Music made sense again. My friends never understood them and I didn't care. To me, they were somewhere between U2 and the Clash but unique all on their own. They are comfort music to me, a place to go when I'm feeling down. Thanks for the memories from a Canadian Prairie boy.

  • The Alarm are still going 30 years on, I admit not the original line up but Mike still produces the most amazing music which he sings with the same conviction decades on. This band should have been great, for some reason Mike has always been shunned by the music press but watch out for a film called Vinyl which tells the story of how Mike fooled the feckless music industry

  • I remember NME trying tu humiliate and downgrade the alarm as welsh stadium rock and things like that while championing U2's zooropa as the future of alternative rock music...nme has alwyas been very shite about promoting good bands..I wonder how many good bands dissapeared becos they didn't get enough media coverage..the geeks and losers writing reviews in NME have been ruining the good of music for so many years..

  • @FreakersBall Yeah, Bro! Early U2 is the best... THE ALARM DIDN'T GET SOLD DOWN THE RIVER! ;-)

  • @originalminujk 6 good records. But I agree with you for the most part! :)

  • @MrTorresisgod No, a great band knows when to call it quits before they suck bad, like The Beatles did! ;-)

  • @canadiangalzo Well it so happens to be my opinion that Mike Peters is a better songwriter. Songs like the one on this video display a sense of craft early on that U2 tried to get later on, as almost an afterthought. Sure, they wrote some ok stuff since they started "trying to write," but it's pretty clear who had his sh** together early on.

And I'm sorry, but Zooropa was not a step forward in any sense. And The Alarm can look back with pride and say they never made a record like that! :)

  • I agree about not getting into arguments about who is better. But it's nice to find kindred spirits who prefer The Alarm!

  • The Alarm can't be compared to anyone. Enough said.

  • PLEASE POINT OUT A CURRENT A#$%)(* that sings and tells you a story about our human condition!! This Welshman should inspire all. While they started near the same time as U2, both bands had faith overtones in their music. I still love both bands and their commitment to faith, family and country. BLESS THEM ALL!
