LIFE AND MIND OFF-GRID

DOCUMENTARY FOR MASTER THESIS 2010 (it's 2012, and the project is still in production)
Hello friends from Dago and Simon! Here is a great chance for you to give us money: our Final Project for the master course!
Too straight forward? ☺
Then let us first explain what it is about and how you fit in.

Director explains
Dago: In the past few years I (not alone, of course) have started to question the so-called advantages of modern life with its progress and technology. Especially in the last 100 years, we have put our faith into these 2 words hoping that the world would become a better place: we can commute faster thanks to cars and planes, we can cook more quickly thanks to the microwave oven, we have washing machines to wash our clothes so that we can really seize the day! We take these things for granted because they have been part of our lives since we were born. But what at what cost are they here?
My wife is pregnant. Soon my child will be walking around this planet, and I ask myself, Is switching to an ecologically-friendly car really going to be enough?
There seem to be more people trying out alternative life styles. What is their motivation? How did they get there? What is their goal?
LIFE AND MIND OFF-GRID is a personal search for good questions about and honest answers to the life we are leading. It is a personal quest, yet surrounded by a community of friends and sympathizers. LIFE AND MIND OFF GRID does not aim to be another guilt-inducing eco-documentary. Instead, with humor, honesty and relationship, it will take the viewer on a journey to meet a few people who for some reason have chosen an apparently different path.

Producer explains how you fit in
Simon: Perhaps you have similar questions or maybe you are a bit skeptical anyhow, by taking part in funding this project you will become one of the Associate Producers of this documentary. What does that mean? It means that you will be updated on the progress of the project, give your feedback, and even participate in the process. On top of that, your name will be included in the film credits as Associate Producer.

Costs
We are students. We have very little money. This project has costs. We are investing our own money and resources, but dont have enough for the whole deal. For example, we have traveled from Germany to the UK to visit Mark Boyle, a man who has been living without money for a year, by choice. This trip cost us 500.00 Euros.
For this trip we saved about 1500,00 Euros because through our own efforts we were able to find alternative ways of traveling, eating and accommodation mostly with friends like Rene and Vanessa who opened their home for us.
We are going to meet more people for our documentary. That means more trips. Altogether, LIFE AND MIND OFF-GRID will cost about 5000,00 Euros.

  • Living off the grid is easy for some & not for others, the way this video is, is that he makes it looks hard. But you can tailer living of the grid to a luxury style of your own.

You just need to pick up an electrician book, carpentry, plumbing & design book & you'll see how easy this thing can be. EVERYTHING FROM THE EARTH IS FREE, WE NEED NOT TO PAY FOR ANYTHING.

  • @BadassCeino You are absolutely right. I am still in the middle of the project... I'd love to hear (read) more of your inputs. Contact me at

  • I live on the East Coast, am in sales, 44 yo and have lived the dog eat dog life for all my life. Never before has getting off the grid looked more appealing. I've been checking out aquaponics as a way of having an income while I move toward this life...I would love to move to selling low cost organic veges to local folks. Man..that's a dream...but a dream I'm slowly working on. Good Luck and God Bless to all of you on here as you take your own journey.

  • I do it.been living that way for 4yrs now and I love it.the only thing go to a store for is flour sugar and salt. But remember folks it has not be all that long ago that our great grand parents live off the grid and with out MONEY.its not hard,Yeah you have to give up some things but to me I rather give up the BS high price of thing than be a slave to the system.

  • i have been living with out money for 4 yrs now

  • @ooonurse33 But people don't know what their ideals are. Maybe they have a vague wish. They don't have a vision for their life. They don't make a distinction between values and standards. (most people.) A goal is not a vision.
