Just had my first wet shave. After years of irritation from crappy multiblades, I am extatic to have found your resources.

I will never shave with a multiblade again! If I ever have a son, neither will he!

I understand what you are saying but you are comparing apples and oranges. Yes there is a higher initial cost to traditional shaving (though your price examples are kind of high) but the real cost savings is in the re-occurring costs. Fusion cartridge $4, DE blade $0.25. Since you shave your whole life the cross-over point comes pretty quickly, usually a couple years. Yes traditional shaving is more time consuming but its also more pleasant so you don't mind the time.

Hi, my problem with shaving is burns, irritation and small injuries with some red spots. This is especially relevant at winter. I use gel in compressed can often putting after-shave aloe vera cream but sometimes put after-shave stimulating cream, the medication that I get with prescription that calms irritation and red spots. Previously I thought the more blades the better and less painful shaving exprience will be, but it seems I was wrong.

    Can you advice please?

General consensus is to avoid the Merkur blades. Blades perform differently in different razors. Derby blades are considered mild but can be harsh in some razors but the blades are amongst the cheapest. I would recommend trying a sample pack from connaughtshaving or similar. The Astra SP (olive green package) or even Astra SS(blue) receive good reviews and fairly cheap and smooth too. Gillette 7 O'Clock series get good reviews; I like the Russian Green stainless but Yellow Sharpedge are good.
