  • hi cam, since i am a chef i want to advise you to thaw your steak (24 hrs in fridge)

and if possible use open charcoal fire(sorry george and jen), good thing you had wa-gyu!!

  • @dedries Excellent idea re. thawing. I agree. Totally. It makes a huge difference. But the Aussie beef we get here in Japan is still TERRIBLE. If that's what Aussie's eat, I can't imagine why they think it is so great.

Also, I can't do charcoal grill here. It would be great, but just not good in Japan. I fry everything. Much easier. And George didn't work well here because the voltage is lower, so it doesn't get hot enough to actually "grill" it. Had to try, though.

    Thanks for advice!

  • Wow, you accomplish a lot in one day. What time do you get up, and how many hours of sleep do you get a night!?

I'm a vegetarian, but I watched this whole video with great interest. And it warms my heart to see your Tim Hortons mug.

  • What?!?!?! You're vegetarian?!??!?! Gimme my futon back!!!!!!

(Had I known I would have rubbed the futon with bacon.... that would have done you and your vegetarian days in...)

I go to bed about 1am and get up about 6. Tokyo time moves twice as fast as Fukui time so everything feels hustled. bustled. Thanks, Mitch!

  • sigh....Cam is picking on vegetarians again....

  • Uh-oh! I set myself up for this one! haha

  • You asked for it, Mitch.

    HI!

Let me be the first but certainly not the last to tell you about the energy benefits of a high protein diet, and how sugars, including those in carbs and fruits and many veggies can sap your energy. I was getting by with for to six hours a night. I'm pretty much enjoying the six now.

Here comes Cam to tell you the rest of the story.

  • Wow, only five hours of sleep! How do you do it!? I need eight at least.

I can't be sure that the futon wasn't stuffed with bacon when you sent it to me. I'll have to get 100 vegetarian (women) to sleep in it, and set it straight.

  • I bought the "bigmotherfucker" size. Just right. If I supplement it with other stuff on the side...
