We always kept those cabinet ties tight and loosened to open the cabinets then tightened back. Never thought to leave them loose like that...if you can slip them off so easily the toddlers might too...right?
Also...I agree...secure things to studs in walls...bookcases, entertainment centers, tv's, armoires, ANY large items.
Something else you forgot is securing things to the walls. Like furniture that your baby can bring down on top of them. I've heard many times on the news about bookcases falling on babies/
