Sorry guys, but ballroom never gets a folk dance of any sort right. Ballroom strips away most ethnic ties to the dance that inspired it to make it palpable for upper class European & American tastes. It still calls the bastardized thing left behind "samba", "salsa", "tango" or "swing", etc. Which is not to say that ballroom is a bad thing, its just a DIFFERENT thing & never to be confused with the REAL stuff. If you love the real street dances, DANCE them and TEACH them and keep them alive.

@Direness Ur quite right about what u're saying, BUT... how the hell do u know that the not-ballroom is the "real" stuff? That's kinda being rude to all ballroom dancers. Ballroom maybe doesn't have the "ethnic" thing, but I guess it's a bit more advanced than the hula hula in Rio carnevals. Yeah, that's maybe what it all started from, but it still isn't "the right" way to do it. The Rio hula hula is NOT the real stuff. They are different and shall not be compered. So shut up really.
