Just found this video. I think it's great. My name is Mike and I worked at Camberwell from 1978 till 1985 then moved to Westend house then to Lewisham Spur House. Got made redundant in 1994. It was a great job. I was the last man out of Westend House when they closed it. I did the final night shift on my own and I walked out of there with tears in my eyes. Would love to share a few memories of the old job as there's not many of us left now. Regards, Mike

Oh, what the hell, ay hat time my life was blighteed by booze and junk, arrived there with nothing, they helped turn me around in life, left and have never looked back, a lot of people slammed the place down, it's this, it's that...

Moral? Never ever judge a book by it's cover.

Thanks, all of us who worked in RU's would probably walk straight back in the door if they re-opened. The worst day's work of a Government intent on destroying the public sector. Have we seen single homelessness fall since the mid 1990's? No.

So with a tear in my eye lets remember Walkden, Leicester, Stormy Down, Sheffied, Leeds, Derby, Winterbourne, Southampton, Brighton, Camberwell (The Spike), Lewisham, Camden, West End and the rest...

Yes its gone now. The buildings we occupied were once the Officers Quarters and medical rooms as well as Offices when it was the RAF Base.

No it was a little further along the road. It was next door to the Prison. You past the HGV Centre then the Prison, we were the next one.
