  • If the string height by the nut is very high, would you not need to readjust the tremolo after trimming the nut (raising it)?

  • @t0r3tr0 Possibly. Setup can be a slippery slope, with one adjustment leading to another and another until your are right back where you started. I wish we could have John Carruthers on staff here with his 45 years of experience; that would be awesome! In lieu of that, the best answer is going to come from a repair shop or from Fender directly, so we urge you to give one of them a call to be sure. (That's what we do for our own guitars.) Good luck to you!

  • i have a tusq nut on strat and my setup is holding the E bass string on 3rd fret i set at 0.10. 10 thous and on the high e its set at 0.06 6 thou. seems fine to me.

  • Nut height is really important. I have all my guitars set up and adjusted to my playing style. Have a good guitar tech do it or learn how to do it yourself. Whatever. Thanks for the vid John!

  • hhhhhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh??

  • How do you change a nut with out messing up the Strat Guitar? Do you have a video on it?

  • What to do if you have a roller nut?

  • @seifs4 I had the same issue

  • I've got an un-related questions, recently I re-strung all the strings on my strat. I usually always did 1 string at a time but decided to take them all off at once. Now my vibrato bridge becomes all the way raised in order to get my guitar in tune.,....how do I fix this?

  • shouldnt filing of the nut require you you to file slot so that it falls away from leading edge (the edge next to fretboard) ?

  • On the feeler gauge, do you use the same mesurment 0.18" for all 6 strings?.

  • For the best understanding of Strat setup recommend to watch whole series at FruduaTV (check vids lower in the "suggestions" row). Superbly useful and extremely explanatory!
