Understand Me -- Juan Loren Zerimar (Please read info section to understand...)

This video features clips from the 1963-64 Anime series 8th Man. The series was created in Japan and dubbed into English by college students in Florida.

It used to air In California at 4 p.m. every afternoon on Channel 11, followed by Gigantor. 8th Man was always my favorite childhood cartoon show. It went off the air in the late 60's when I was still a little child. I never thought I would see it again, but thanks to the Internet I was able to find some preserved copies of the show.

The series was years ahead of its time addressing topics such as bionics, mind control technology, robotics, New World Order issues, and other serious ethical and philosophical issues such as patriotism vs. spiritual truth.

8th man starts life as a human detective, but some gangsters he was trying to detain sabotage him and run him down with a car that looks like a 1959 Buick Electra 225 (the Byzantine Buick...lol...for those who know what I mean.)

The almost dead detective is discovered by Professor Genius, who takes him to his lab and transfers the detective's consciousness to a humanlike robot he has build, thus 8th Man is born. This is the first part of this video.

He is a shape shifter so he assumes the look of his former self and adopts the name Tobor (Robot backwards) as his daily identity, working as a private investigator, but when evil lurks he becomes 8th man the robot to save the day.

Tobor's secretary, Jenny falls in love with him and him with her, but alas their love can never be because he is robot made of steel. There is an episode in which she finds out her love Tobor is actually the robot 8th man and both she and he are so heart broken...it is very touching...and sad that because of the circumstances 8th Man must relegate himself to a life of aloneness. This episode forms the middle of this video.

There is another episode where 8th Man meets his sister robot Samantha 7. Her maker and Dr. Genius worked together for the country of Armaco, but Armaco expected Genius to make robots for war purposes, and he defects preferring that his inventions be used for peaceful purposes. The other scientist brings Samantha 7 to where genius and 8th Man are with the intent of bringing them back to Armaco. A fight ensues between 8th Man and Samantha --a battle which 8th man does not want to fight because he wants to befriend his sister, but unfortunately, her electronic brain short circuits, and she becomes insane nearly destroying both 8th man and her own creator. Ultimately, her insanity results in her own destruction. This is the last part of the video.

Finally, when I found the rare DVD's of 8th man in 2002 and played them for my friends, one of my friends said..."OMG you look just like Tobor!" I said "No I don't!!" But, my friend pulled out a picture of me in the early 90's in which I truly do look like Tobor LOL!!! Now the magic question is did 8th Man leave a lasting impression on my mind that years after having not seen the show I subconsciously made myself look like Tobor....or did someone go through a time warp and decided to use me as the model for the anime show????? LOL! LOL! LOL!
