On December 2nd The Institute for Food and Development Policy - Food First - helped organize a conference in Mali on Agroecological Alternatives to a Green Revolution in Africa. The purpose of this conference was to inform farmers in Africa about the Gates Foundations' Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). AGRA hopes to introduce input intensive, industrial agriculture to Africa. Food First believes that farmers and the environment are best served by small scale, low-capital, agroecological methods of farming. Read Food First's "Twelve Myths About Hunger" to see why industrial food production isnt the answer to hunger.
Thanks for sharing this! Cool way to take advantage of a report back so many could hear it...
