Just letting off some steam, and making fun of some jerks, If you wanted to you could re-title this "The Low Rant District." Nothing very high brow here. Just poking fun at some individuals I think deserve it.

  • hey larry i live in illinois and don't know much on what this proposition 8 in california is but could you send me a message on it or where i can look it up just for curiosity sake now i listen to guys like rush and hanity but im not conservitive but am a libertarian and would agree that yes all things in govt should be public knowledge as they are suppose to be the voice of the people not the other way around

  • @wakcedout Prop. 8 was a vote of the people of California to deny the right of same sex couples to marry. By my reading of the Constitution, Prop. 8 is unconstitutional. It remains to be seen whether SCOTUS still respects the Constitution (specifically the first and fourteenth amendments).

  • Largo, it makes sense that the Supreme Court would conduct their business in private, for the same reason every other court in this country conducts their proceedings with out the media in the room. The Legislative branch functions best with out politics mixed with it. It is supposed to be an impartial system. Look at the OJ case, No way he gets away with that shit in a closed court. If the case is handled properly, then we will get our way in the end any way.

  • @logicallyrational A lot of courts HAVE allowed cameras, especially in cases that have piqued the public interest. Federal courts, however have been loath to follow suit. The Congress (at least the House of Representatives) has allowed cameras to record the process of lawmaking, but the higher up we go, the less "transparency" is welcomed by our "leaders." It's as if leadership were something had by right, instead of something they were elected to. Oh, wait! Federal judges are appointed.

  • (cont.) Anyway, the case is being heard by a federal district court, not the Supreme Court. That will no doubt come later, if the district court overturns Prop. 8 as they should. The assholes who care naught for the rights of others will pursue their hateful course if they lose this one.

  • Audio of oral arguments before the Supreme Court are made available after the fact.

Anyone actually interested in the substance will have an opportunity to listen.

C-SPAN Radio plays audio of historic cases regularly.

  • @jwoodswce Thanaks. Actually, I wouold have liked to see the argument and watch the faces of the attorneys and witnesses, especially the ones for the defense.

  • I used to make fun of Sarah Palin but I stopped. I mean the chick could be a cyborg sent here to destroy us. What human do you know that can see Russia from their back porch in Alaska? Are you sure she's a harmless human? That's standard issue optical abilities of a T-1000 if I remember right.

  • Pat Robertson, always the voice of reason... oh, wait a second. What I meant to say was "Pat Robinson, always and ass-hat".

  • Freedom of Speech should not be given to idiotic uneducated people like yourself Larry. Get a grip on what you are saying. You're the lying pig who deserves the humiliation. Shut your mouth and get a life, you're obviously unsuccessful and just looking for attention because you are a lonely atheist.

  • umm, a misattributed Bismarck quote comes to mind: "Laws are like sausages. It is better not to see them being made."

  • @Largo64 ah ok well then i would have to say that is unconstitutional and granted same sex marriage was not a topic of the day when the constitution was written the rights therein do tend to prohibit such things as this Prop 8, as for me i do not see same sex marriage as world ending and personally i really do not care how they want to live their lives, if they marry it does not effect me in the least. sort of a live and let live way of thinking on this topic by me. thanks for explaining it.

  • Hello Larry,

I do respect your opinions !

    Peace Always !
