I've got some good friends who tell me that repenting is works and that we don't need to repent to gain salvation. Jesus died for our sins, we have sinned against God, and yet, we are not to repent to God?

How can we not repent when Scripture is full of repenting for salvation? If repenting is a "work" so then is believing and praying. All these are actions that we are told that needs to be done to receive salvation.

Are they to be considered woks? No, because salvation is a free gift from God, but he does ask us to repent and believe.

It is God's word that we need to listen too.

  • If it is "works" or not, is another wasted argument. It is necessary, that is really all we need to know.

  • @fLionhearted I agree with you, it is necessary, but the repentance must come from being convicted by the Holy Spirit. It must be a true broken heart for the sins they did, otherwise, they don't understand the cross. The point being in this video is that there are some who say it is not necessary because repenting is nothing but works..I disagee with that because repentence comes because of the Holy Spirit and is necessary.

  • Great video sis. :)

  • @Chinaculiacan Thank you :)

    God bless

  • I believe that repentance is essential to the gospel message. The bad news is that we have sinned against God and we need to repent and embrace the goodnews of the Cross. We must not water down the real meaning of repentance and faith.Amen to this video.

  • 1 John 1:7-9 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

  • @zacqt Amen to what you say....works will be judged by fire but the man himself will be saved..

    God bless,

  • Excellent video sister, The first 3 verses of Romans 12 are also pertaining to repentance. The ultra "grace" camp like the rest of us will be judged by our "works", whether they be good or bad.Mathew 16v27. It will be sad for many who's "works" were predominately telling others to do no works=false flattery/pride. Works don't save us, they increase faith. There is no account in scripture where one on one,-was saved without "works" being witnessed. Even the thief on the cross(Luke 23v39~43)

  • @BrotherMurray Acts 5:32...obey what?...The gospel, that's what we obey...When we obey Christ we are putting our faith in Him.....if we love him we will keep his commandments, but not unto salvation, but BECAUSE of salvation...Just as James writes.....It is plain that you believe in works for salvation wihich is a false gospel, and one that doesn't save anyone, but send them to hell.

  • Acts 5:32- God gives the Holy Ghost to those that obey

Hebrews 5:9- Christ is the eternal author of salvation to those that obey him

John 14:15- If you love him, keep his commandments

Acts 2:38: Repent, be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost

It is plainly clear from Acts 8:12-18 and Acts 19:1-7 that the Holy Ghost is not given upon confession or before belief.
