  • toggel that sight!

  • This is nothing. I've shot down WAY more planes that this guy has......on Playstation! :-)

  • The bullets have a bigger punch and Hartmann would need 1: less ammo to get a victory 2: every firing pass has a greater chance of a killing blow instead of only damaging the enemy.

  • @GermanOperaSinger I doubt you even read Tolivers biography about Hartmann. If you did I suggest you read it again. He clearly describes how Hartmann outmanouvered russians who attacked him in several occasions, I dont think a mediocre pilot would be able to do that. And he was not a bad marksman, on the contrary he was an excellent long range shooter hitting enemy planes from maximum combat range. Why he switched his method and started firing from close range is because the bullets have bigger

  • @Manfred1257 IIRC his family lived in Manchuria for a few years in the 1920s.

  • @Falke40lg he lived in china with his parents for a while untila political turmoil there forced his return to germany

  • @pedowife4kids Dann hätte er wohl mit den Japsen das gleiche gemacht, was er mit den russischen Fliegern angestellt hat. Ess war Krieg, und da wirst du schnell zum Killer, wenn du überleben willst.

  • Actually Hartmann was anything BUT a natural born ace. He was a poor marksman and his flying skills were mediocre at best. He was however a prodigiously intelligent and creative thinker who was able to learn from every mistake he made. His method of scoring victories always put him at an extreme advantage over his opponents. Came from a family of very successful doctors; I believe he left medical school to join the Luftwaffe. Ray Toliver has written an excellent biography of him.

  • Erich Hartmann spent his early childhood in China until 1928. His father was a doctor who worked in China because of the poor economy in Germany after the Great War. He had a headstart to being a pilot because his mother was a pilot too.
