For those of you interested in maintaining a 1930's style w/out the option for full-on theatrics. This is good for daytime and can be amped up with false lashes and silver/gray tones (plus dark 'noirish' lips) for evening. See my Bette Davis/Joan Blondell tutorial for a look at that option.
