  • i should of used crucial, owc memory sucks period. bad quality, its not slow, its BUGGY. the os, apps and all.

  • @Th33M33 Some people have a go at me for buying Crucial Memory, they say it's too expensive. But, I have never had any issues with their memory at all through the years, so for that I am willing to pay a few extra pounds or so.

  • Would it be possible to add 8GB and 2GB to make 10GB of RAM? Or 8 and 4GB for 12GB? Which would be most cost effective? Or is 8GB enough to run photoshop, premier pro, ableton etc.? Thanks

  • @AmZPrOdUcTioNz I run Photoshop and the likes on the MBP and 8GB is more than enough for what I do. The upgrades are best done in matched pairs x2 4GB or x2 8GB, and for the cost of memory these days, I'd put in as much as you can afford. It really is well worthwhile doing.

  • @MrGordonian actually 8 gigs is cheaper from crucial i just checked, its cheaper than OWC by around 6 bucks.

  • @kenco117 Glad to have been of assistance, if you have any other questions about the Mac side etc, please feel free to drop me a line! Best of luck on the purchase and upgrade, you will love it!!!

  • @MrGordonian Okay, thanks for the advice. I'm gonna get the upgrade aftermarket (made by Crucial) and fit them myself once I buy my new Macbook Pro. You're the only guy that I have written to that has answered me straight, so thank you very much for your help. =) Nice vid. Keep 'em comin'!

  • @kenco117 The upgrade would be the right thing to do. The audio side alone, office and the likes can all be running at the same time and you should not experience any lag or spinning ball as the system tries to catch up and do things. And for what the upgrade costs (as long as it's not from Apple) it's a minimal expense that once done, you forget about but have all the benefit of it! You won't regret doing the upgrade.

  • @MrGordonian Well I'm getting the Macbook Pro to run Logic Express 9 and possibly Pro Tools sometime in the future. As well as running the internet, I'm gonna use Microsoft office for college and play musicn my spare time. I thought that this upgrade would be a good idea just to make transitions between apps etc smoother and faster.

Also, with a lot of data on the screen (music recordings etc) it may be a good idea to upgrade just to give the laptop a hand. What do you think?

  • @kenco117 NOt so much faster, but I'd say smoother, if that makes sense? The standard 4GB in the MBP is fine really, but as I'm using some heavy duty applications like FCPX and Photoshop, the extra memory means these applications have all the memory the need, and do not have to use the hard drive to cache data when the memory becomes low. Also, if you use parallels, the extra memory really does make a difference for having so many applications running at the same time.
