West Somerset Railway - Somerset In Autumn - 24/10/09 - Part 2

Part 2 of 2.

The West Somerset Railway held its 3rd Somerset in Autumn event over the weekend of 24th & 25th October, and it would be the last as it is due to be replaced by an event in early September in 2010 due to the diesel locos lack of steam heating capability becoming an issue. For this years event the home fleet would be supplimented by 3 guest locos that had been retained from the Autumn Steam Gala, the guests were Manor Class No 7802 'Bradley Manor' from the Severn Valley, 56XX No 6695 from the Swange Railway, returning to the line for the second time in 2009, and former resident 4575 Class No 5542 from the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway. Locos from the home fleet were 5101 Class No 4160, 4575 Class No 5553, SDJR 7F No 88, Class 35 No D7017, Class 47 No D1661, and Class 14 No D9526, which only operated on the heritage goods train. I made the trip to the event with JBTEvans and jakeyboygen and thanks to them for a great day out.

In this part we start at Ker Moor, with D7017 climbing up to Blue Anchor station, with 88 speeding away in the oposite direction towards Minehead. 7802 then arrives with its second train of the day to Minehead, passing 5542 heading for Bishops Lydeard. After taking the Manor to Minehead, 6695 is seen departing on its first working of the day. 7802 can then be seen heading onto the turntable for a full 360 turn. D1661 arrives from Bishops Lydeard, before 7802 runs onto the train prior to departure for Bishops Lydeard. In the credits we can see 7802's firelight being shone onto its exhaust, giving an orange glow above the engine.
