Me and my friend Carl saw this 4 foot Rattlesnake on the coppermine trail in the Delaware Water Gap just south of the Appalachian trail in New Jersey on Saturday September 8th. The most interesting thing about this snake is that it had only one bead for its rattle. This was very dangerous because it was stretched across the trail as I approached shaking its "rattle" however there was no sound, lucky I saw it just as I was about to step right on it. We photographed it for a while and left it go on its way. This is my second encounter this year with Rattlers. Please see my other Videos.

  • Wow. Blows my mind.

Dude...I hope this goes one of two ways. Either you never step on a trail again or you learn to show nature a little respect.

Instead of considering yourself lucky to come across a beautiful snake you poke it with a stick.

    Again. Wow.

  • I thru hiked the A.T. in 2004 and only saw one rattlesnake. I saw a nest of copperheads in a hollow tree stump where I was camping but the point being these animals mean you no harm. Unless you start chasing them and picking them up with a stick. There venom glands will produce more venom and since they only travel a maximum of 1-2 miles from there dens chances are someone might walk by it again and he wont be so kind. Almost all snakebites occur from people messing with them. Don't be stupid!

  • Never a shortage of idiots and sticks or idiots with sticks.Leave the damn snake alone! Idiot!

  • ass hole

  • @Econoliveme Actually, NOT guaranteed. If you WANT it to bite you it will. But it really doesn't want to waste its venom on you. Hence the threat display.

  • Might have been caught by a predator before and managed to escape. Because it's too big to have only one bead. Unless it's missing a gene.

  • Dumb and Dumber

  • Two dummies that have to poke it with a stick. Wish it would have bite you that would have been a good vid. Idiots.

  • @cincye1 Then to to sleep like my friend who did in her tent and sleeping bag but one got in and bit her. She almost died but had a lifetime of suffering from the bite so keep it up snake lovers.

  • A rattlesnake will bite you. Guaranteed.

  • "Rattlesnake Bite and Death on Appalachian Trail" Why would you lie on your title to GET VIEWS? WTF? Seriously Lame.... Wish I could get that 2:14 back in my life.

  • Hey guy, you were WAY too close to that snake. He could have very well bitten you. You don't sound dumb on the tape, but rattlers can strike up to 2/3 of their length. You're lucky you did not get tagged is all I'm saying. Defensive bites are the worst case scenario if bitten. Although timber rattlers are usually pretty docile, other species would have def. struck out at you. Be CAREFUL@!
