Here's a view of Amtrak's yard from the parking garage at 30th St. Station. P42 #2, GP38 #720 and a toaster #928 make a move with P32-8 #513 sitting idle as Jim, Drew, and Gary from the society we belong to watch on at Amtrak's Train Day event on Saturday May 9,09.

  • IS IT ALL ELECTRIFIED

  • Dunno, but a lot of it is.

  • Just before going in service, do they assemble trains one-by-one or do they take out of service trains and make minor modifications to them?

  • I can't say for sure, but I know for a fact that yes they do that with the Acela Express train sets. As for Amfleet cars, who knows.

  • What were Acelas doing there anyway? 30th Street Station is quite a distance from either terminal.

  • Good question, I have no idea.
