Season 1, Episode 1: A Way of Life
Original Air Date: 12 June 1973.
Set in 1934, Sam Wilson's mother Dora leaves her husband and takes Sam away to the Yorkshire mining village of Skellerton. Her family are already very poor and two more mouths to feed put extra pressure on them. The series tells of Sam's new life, adjusting to a new school, a new dad and a trip to the seaside. Contains the first five episodes: "A Way of Life", "Poor Law", "Leaving Home", "For Ever and Ever and Ever and Ever" and "A Day to Remember."

  • MORE episodes of SAM PLEASE!!!!!!. The answer to an earlier question was YES!,Mark McManus did indeed play Sam as an adult.
