This video was uploaded from an Android phone. My cousin & I encuontered this black bear at Commissary Ridge at Mt. Mitchell, NC on Aug.20th, 2010. We backpacked in arriving about 5pm to find the bear just watching us setup camp. We'd encounter him 5 more times before midnight before finally getting him to leave for good after a bunch of huffing and jaw snapping.
@Siconn91 That place is bear country. I usually do not see anything other than tracks, but I saw a lareg male bear there this weekend. I have not posted video. The sad thing is the bears are not afraid of people and walked right up to a group of ten and grabbed a pack, ate it and went back for another. It had no fear of people, and that is not natural so it is likely the bear I saw will be killed by US Rangers as the ridge is off the State Park ground. I have a lot of video to post. ....no time

Wow. I'm glad we didn't run into him.We camped in that exact spot on 10/09/10 for a night. Although now that I think about it I do remember hearing something rustling around outside our tent that night. Thought it was the wind. Good thing we had hung all our food down the trail a ways..
