Follow the mysterious fish death developments at abc rural : http://www.abc.net.au/rural/content/2010/s2847343.htm What caused dead fish to wash up in the hundreds onto Tathra Beach, Australia? The dead fish washed onto the long ocean beach on a sunny afternoon on March 14th, 2010. Autumn beachgoers on Sunday afternoon strolls were in awe at the sight of so many dead fish. They speculted with others on the beach as to the casue of the strange & mysterious sight. Was this nature at work, or a case of overfishing or other human created cause? Fisheries officers estimate 2,000 fish washed up on Tathra Beach, weighing a combined 6 tonnes. The large dead salmon were over 300 mm in length & weighed from 1- 2 kg. The community discussion continues as to what killed the fish. Fore more on the progress of the story with Keva Gocher go to ABC Rural Radio for southeast NSW. Slideshow by Keva Gocher

  • @celtic2674 how about you learn your facts before you sprout off, 1 - fisherman dont cut roe out on the beach, that is a factory job. 2 - that is not how you cut roe out anyway. 3 - there is no commercial value for salmon roe in australia yet. 4 - i am a commercial fisherman on the beach and we dont shit in our own nest. that would be counter productive!!!!! THINK FIRST.....

  • Cryptozoology adventure novel about twp boys who find something strange on the beach one night see video book trailer

  • BP!!!!!

  • @zjones1222 nice theory's man but it was just over fishing, a trawler dumped them then they washed up a few days later.

  • Problem is with overfishing, disappearing reefs, pollution (trash, oil and chemicals) and glacier water changing ocean temperatures. Solution reduce ocean fishing after spunning, place imatation reefs (old cars, boats, planes), drasticly reduce pollution especially with deep sea oil drilling sea life is more important than oil where people could use fusion technology but some of us are selfish to let the oil go and create habitat for animals of melting poles.

  • Im beached as.

  • Thanks for reporting this.

  • My son came home from school today and told me that one of his mates whose dad workes on the trawlers at Eden(sth of Tathra} told hime that they dumped a load of salmon the other weak becouse the market price had droped and it was not worth there costs ,so they dumped the fish, this got me so angry i thought i would do a search on google and look what i found, to the proffessional at Eden this is disgusting, you should be locked up.

  • @Banez1991 banez1991 a flock of birds fell out of the sky in the US last month - a hundred birds on the lawns of a neighbourhood. No. There IS something toxic, but it is not a fissue in the earth. What are we dumping? What are we spraying? How long are we going to get away with it?

  • Stomaches are open many times, means they are rotting for some days or gulls ?

I also think poisoning somehow or fallen from a fishing vessel. The dead fish are only in a specific area, not for miles and miles.
