The sound of the word "extract" horrifies me.

This is some of the most intriguing material I've heard since the days when Lost was still good. We begin to get a partial picture for the first time of the interactions among the forces pulling our strings.
I am especially interested in the idea that the G-man is a businessman, perhaps without an agenda of his own (certainly not fully allied with the Combine, Breen, or the Vorts), a procurer of assets who, in Gordon's case, has "agreed to abide by certain restrictions." Fascinating stuff.

Michael Shapiro's performance in this scene makes for the most sinister music. So much nuance: "your... friends, huh", "crow!-bar", "when-I-plucked-her", "f-father."

It'd be neat if G-man "hired" Chell, then sent her back to the time of this.

E3:
Just after a break, the room goes dark. The crowd is silent for a time, expecting something... but after 10 seconds of nothing, they start to grow unruly, thinking there might be a glitch backstage.
Another 10 seconds pass... then... "Doctor Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeman...."
Then the entire world roared with excitement.
