Or: Put all your valuables in your inventory before you log out. theres not way they can get it when its in your inventory and your are not in the game:)

I would put lava over the chest and make a small lava pool because that is how most X-ray mods can't detect it

Its 1 problem. A lot of people use x-ray now. The tip is then to put the chest inside a iron ore thing so long down as possible, because they wont dig down to that small iron ore source when its 100 other iron source. Thumbs up so everyone see this.
