There's an estimated 50 million stray cats in America! So when Big Cat Rescue staff spotted a stray kitten on Christmas Eve we decided to rescue the kitten and help make a difference!

  • @BigCatRescue Glad you are promoting this successful form of population control. I would like to ask that you include links to the national groups that have info on TNR: Alley Cat Allies and Neighborhood Cats. Anyone interested should contact TNR groups in their area to learn safe trapping & handling techniques (catching cats with your hands & transferring them to carriers is not recommended). FIV & FeLV testing is not normally done on TNR cats, but vaccinating against rabies is.

  • @ACCCGStThomas We will add the links in the description to this video, agreed hand catching isn't the best option but it was in this case, I would rather do this than have the kitten stressed out in the live trap before we return.

  • Both of our (small!) cats are rehomed and are great pets, we take great pride in knowing we gave permanent homes to needy animals. Really enjoyed this video, I wish we could drop by to tour your rescue centre when we visit Florida in September, none of us is brave enough to rent a car!

  • @kaytronika Great! Hope you can make it to the sanctuary to see the cats in person! :)

  • man, give them something to sleep. them you neuter them. you could have caught all of them in 10 minutes. use your head

  • @BigCatRescue You demonstrate so many good qualities in an organization. I'm really glad you made this video I think you should continue promoting yourselves like this, and you should also re-iterate that you are rescuing these big cats from unsavory conditions, not merely keeping them for profit. Continue doing this great service for man and animal kind a like!

  • @BigCatRescue Thank you for helping cats big and small! For those looking to help cats in their own neighborhoods, contact your local rescue organizations to see if there are TNR groups or if people are interested in starting some. The groups mentioned above have videos, DVDs, advocacy info, studies and how-to guides. TNR is also a neighborhood improvement project as it helps eliminate nuisance behavior (stops cats from spraying smelly urine & eliminates mating & a lot of fighting.)

  • I just had to say aww at 1:40

  • Thats a wonderful thing you did to help out the feral kitten, I know personal how hard they are to work with as Im a veterinary assistant and have worked with feral cats before in taming them for adoption as well as working with a local organization to sterilize ferals.

Spay & Play is a wonderful idea to help promote control of the pet population, I hope it proves successful in encouraging owners to spay and neuter their pets.

  • i was here the moment i saw the word kitten

  • @ACCCGStThomas We contacted Alley Cats Alliance several years back. We were basically offered no help and were referred to volunteers who never contacted us or were overwhelmed themselves. They're not really very active in our area.

  • I wish I could have Kringle but unfortunately I live. VERY far from Florida

  • hey, i lived in Tampa as a kid! what a trip!
