  • I was a poultry farmer for 34 years; I had to give it up in 2009 when corn prices reached $16.80 a bushel, yet eggs prices were still at $1.99 a dozen! Now I'm buying a motorhome this fall, expenses of farming have gone through the roof, too much work, too much time, no vacations, no pay anymore, I'm taking my first vacation in 36 years and making it a fulltime lifestyle instead. :)

  • @EelKat I'm sorry that your farming career had to end like that, it's so unfair. But I wish you the best in your new, more awesome adventure! Feel free to look up our LiveWorkDream website, it would be fun to connect. Congratulations!!!

  • You guys have made some smart decisions. I hope you're still living the good life.

  • @mrbr549 They sure are. I talked to them earlier this year and they're still living their dream, chasing the sun.

  • @EelKat that should say "New RVs are VERY uncommon"

  • @NorceCodine There are people STILL using their RVs from the 1960's - thats 50 years. 1970's = 40 years; 1980s = 30 years; 1990s = 20 years....uhm...have you ever even MET a person with an RV? Have you ever even LOOKED at the 200 - 400 RVs parked in each and every campground? RVs are VERY uncommon, you'd be hard pressed to find an RV UNDER 15 years old, being actively used, and often still by the original owner. Where did you get your 15 year replacement figure? These things never wear out!

  • Hahahaha I like the example of living in a house! =D Really made my day! THanks for a good clip. CHeers from Sweden

  • Sometimes you got to know when to holdem and know when to foldem, and you'll have made smart decisions and you look happy, which is the important thing.

  • @NorceCodine My rv was $1000 and is 30 yrs old works fine.I'd actually rather have an older one because the most practical thing, for me anyway,is something you can maintain yourself.

  • Yeah but how about the expense of the depreciation of the RV - I guess after about 15 years you need to buy a new one, and thats about what, 60-80K ?

It seems to be food and gas only, but you have to factor in that your new RV has a life-span about 15-18 years.
