I am Derek James, an Interactive Technology and Design student at Simon Fraser University.

I've created a new prototype keyboard for touchscreen cellphones. This is an early prototype, but it is already showing signs of promise. If you have any questions, ask away!

  • Simon Fraser University represent!

Taking the IAT course at Surrey? Btw, the prototype looks great, I'd love to try it out - maybe even help you out if you need someone else to work with (I'm currently studying engineering)

  • @AkshayGenius Yep, I'm a SIAT student, third year!

  • is the song a remix of another song, can someone tell me the name it's driving me nuts!!! good keyboard idea btw :D

  • @aHmEDbainELnas It is a remix of Miike Snow's Animal. I think it is done by Treasure Fingers.

  • fyi something like this has already been pushed to the android market

  • if you write all the words as they're supposed to be written then it's great, but if you want to write some slangs it'll be a pain in the ass.. as an example, when you hit 'B' it'll probably enlarge 'E', 'O', but will never enlarge the 'C' or 'T', so you would have some trouble typing 'BC' or 'BTW'

  • patent this NOW

    before it's stolen

    million-dollar idea

  • You need to make this an iPhone jailbreak tweak! I'd LOVE to try it!

  • I like Miike Snow.

  • @ttk1opc - While TB is a similar idea within the same concept-realm, @SirDerekJames introduces enough change to qualify as innovative. Beside, innovation often comes at the feet of an existing idea (product or otherwise), whereby a component is improved. Thats a built-in foundation of the Patent Granting Process within the US :-) One key difference his idea has over TB is the separation of suggested keys from others. This is lacking in TB and a problem he solves (reducing thumb overflow).

  • @fapimpe

Well, then let's just say that this is a keyboard for people who know how to use the written language.

  • does anyone know the song name? :)
