This is excellent and as a rule of thumb for composition it never fails.

The link to the golden mean is exaggerated however, and clearly Ronald realises that it's actually thirds he's talking about, not the golden mean. 0.66 is not 0.618 but he's right to point out that *anything* in that kind of range is good for composition.
