Professional Artist Ronald Swanwick explains the principles behind 'The Golden Mean' rule of composition.

And it would appear that some noodle has spelt his name wrong in the video - sorry about that Ronald!

  • This is excellent and as a rule of thumb for composition it never fails.

    The link to the golden mean is exaggerated however, and clearly Ronald realises that it's actually thirds he's talking about, not the golden mean. 0.66 is not 0.618 but he's right to point out that *anything* in that kind of range is good for composition.
