For menus the number one important thing is speed. If people have to wait for nodes to come up, they will get pissed beyond imagining, and will just go to another site.

Hi moniker127,
The function that is assigned to the buttons is completely arbitrary. So it is not essential to use a button to open other web site's page; however, if you want to do this, you can use HTML frame tag to see the flash menu and also opened new page identically

If you mean the rolling speed of menu's item, you can see your answer in the gold version ( in the movie) which has a menu option. There is a slider in the Speed tab that can adjust the ratio speed of closing or opening of items.
