@dodge96neon after watching this movie, I'm glad I don't have kids to "take care of" me when I get old. Who needs this kind of aggravation from your own family? From strangers, you'd expect it!
what is really scary today is we have many who are either elderly or approaching that time and they never had any children to be able to care for them
@ClizBiz This movie is very typical of America. As a medical professional I see it plays out all the time in the hospital, which is a microcosm of society. Latin and Asian families always have visitors for the sick. White and black people, esp. those raised with the American ideal of rugged individualism, perverted to individual greed, seem to have no time at all. The nursing home is another place that is utterly depressing.
@ClizBiz Well it was supposed to be a "Code" Hollywood film, meaning it was written to impart good morals on its viewers. As you can see, the moral lesson of this one is honor thy father and mother.
In older societys this was always happen....Yes we are not in older society, we are here and this film is made with a lot of sensitivity and love. 1937 was the cold hand of the depression still surround, like today people are forst to change a lot and artist have a task to historicy have anticipated. Is a good film!
This is a wonderful deep insight film, who will come out this days on dvd in the US. The people are real and their is a situation today that people again coming in this situation. It helps nothing when people say, oh what this moral people want to tell me.
I thought this creepy teenage girl at the beginning was going to college and could give up her room to Grandma?

Hi Clizbiz,
This looks like a movie with a moral lesson. Perhaps they want us to take a look at how selfish we can be and to make changes in our lives.
