Watch this all the way through - at about 2/3rd of the way through, you will see the shock wave of the coronal mass ejection (from August 1 - the "Massive Solar Tsunami" event).

This is a simulation derived from satellite data of the interaction between the solar wind, the earth's magnetosphere, and earth's ionosphere.

The interesting part starts at about two-thirds into the movie, where the UTC time stamp is 1651 UTC. You can see the shock wave hit the magnetosphere.

This movie spans August 3, 2010. At about 1651 UTC in the movie (just about the two-thirds point), the shock arrives, as can be seen in the pressure level and the Bz component graphs.

This is the arrival of the second CME released during the August 1, 2010 double eruption solar event (see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyaqxKkSCpU ). This triggered aurora on August 4, 2010, as the geomagnetic field became stormy (Kp was at or above 5).
