Sure there were a lot of people before Jeffrey Daniel who did "versions" of the "back walk" or whatever they called it - but I'd say Jeffrey was the biggest "current" influence on Michael's Moonwalk. Michael always gave props to his other dancing "idols" such as James Brown and Fred Astaire as well.

The song is called "Pop Along Kid" and it's from Jeffrey's and Jody's Band called Shalamar.
They had very big success together with Howard Hewett.
