One of the greatest social activist and magsaysay award winner Murlidhar Devidas Amte died at the age of 94 at his 'Anandvan' ashram at Chandrapur disctrict of Maharashtra. Born on 26 December 1914in a wealthy family of landlords in Hinganghat in Wardha district of Maharashtra.
Baba Amte had launched the Bharat Jodo movements from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in 1985 and Gujrat to Arunachal Pradhesh in 1988, with the mission of of estachlishing peace with the mission of estabhlishing peace and raising environmental consciosness.
In 1990, Baba Amte left Anandvan to live along the Narmada river to fight against social injustice to local inhabitants.
He recieved many national and international awards, including, Gadhi peace price, Roman Magsaysay and Templetion Prize.
We wish his sould RESTS IN PEACE.
But most precious is the spirit he left behind.
We are mentioning it all her to keep his spirit alive.
