thats so true ! im only 16 and i can close my no3 and almost my 3.5 with my Chocker on it you can watch my video if you want. And yes you must be patient with grip training !

Not to worry, age won't affect it one bit. At first I wish I would've started earlier but now I don't even think about it, all I think about now is closing the #3. Good luck with your training.

I agree with the rest and I understand age here matters less than in other sports involving compound movements (obviously). But it still has to matter a bit: average hand strength decreases a bit with age and obviously you can't think of improvements in strength over say 60 or 65 yo, there's got to be a point when it's late. Maybe the advantage you talk about is if you started training grip young, hand strength often really picks up at more mature age, so I read. Patience yes increases with age

Age doesn't matter. Age can even be an advantage at some points. Grip strength is a slow process, considering what kind of strength you really need. Forearm size won't matter - tendon and ligament-strength will! But since tendons and ligaments require such an amount of time to completely restitute from training... the more patience you have, the better long-time gains you will get. So not only should you train hard, but keep an eye out for overreaching, or you won't get the results you're after.

Seeing this I feel even more how far I am from my goal, by summer CoC #2,5.
I am starting grip training a bit old, I didnt even know its existence, I like it, I used to have fairly strong hands when young was climbing but then left and never did manual work (just writing...) so it was all from ground zero when started end 2008. I think manual workers have a starting advantage but others can catch up at some point. I close CoC# 1,5 and I am beyond parallel on #2. Is age an important issue?

lol, seriously you have a damn strong hand !!

how long have you been training your grip? Very impressive strength obviously. Also do you have large hands? I notice most people who can close a 3+ have large hands.

Thanks. I started grip training very early, I've been training grip in some form about 12 years alltogether, last 3 years have been very intense specialization on grip.
I don't have large hands, they are smaller than average. :)
