  • It seems that Mr. Norton has taken the suikendo complexs he learned from Master Tadashi Yamashita and turned them into dvd's without giving full and complete credit to Master Yamashita. I wonder if he had permission to do so?

  • Mr Norton gives full credit to Master Yamashita at the begining of the DVDs in his introduction. No funny business going on here...

  • Although I was also the director of photography on this project and also produced these DVDs I can say without a doubt there is a great benefit in learning these complex drills. You should buy them...

But yes... slapping the guy in the face is still kinda funny! haha....

  • Richard is 57, he is also a master in Muay Thai, a blackbelt in Brazilian Jiu Jistu, a master in many traditional weapons systems, and also a very formidable mixed martial artist.

I'm 32 and have been training since I was 8 years of age, the last 12 years in BJJ and MMA, and Richard makes me look slow (and I'm fast).

  • It would take a black belt or higher to appreciate what is actually being practiced in the drill, although a beginner would still get great benefit as they would be laying the foundation for training their body to move in a particular way.

  • Bryson has hit the nail on the head. The whole point of the complexes is not to use the drill as a stand alone technique, but as a method of practicing some fundamental mechanics. Yes, the series is called BlackBelt complexes for a reason...

  • ....i've known Mr. Norton since i was 10 back in 1970...absolutely no doubt he is a gifted athlete with genetically superior fast twitch muscle fibre who has worked incredibly hard to realise his physical potential and capitalise on opportunity given and made.Technically he is superb at mimicing what most have been indoctrinated to accept as the correct body language of karate....but the man is and always has been an alpha-male ego-maniac....karate expert? 1 of top 10 in world. Martial artist?
