  • @Suplexmachine That Street Racer Extra reminds me of Wacky Wheels for the PC. Sigh... That was back when I first started making art/animations for PC games.

  • @stringanime Hey, don't worry...I like some mediocre titles myself: Brain Dead 13, Street Racer Extra, Incredible Crisis, Cruis'n USA, Scorcher, etc. You should seriously check out Street Racer Extra on Saturn though. Really awesome kart racer IMO.

  • @Suplexmachine I got a high tolerance for mediocrity. When you consider I have games like Ju-On the Grudge, Flip's Twisted World, and The Core Gang in my library, I think you can understand how that 120 happened.

  • @stringanime Damn, I didn't realize there was 120 games worth playing on Wii lol I only know of about 40 Wii games I'd like to play.

  • @Suplexmachine Me too. Companies like TREASURE made cover, on Gamefan magazine. Still got my Dynamite Headdy Magazine. Perhaps it is for the best. If the industry had shaped in the direction of our kind of games, we'd be spending too much money. As it is, I find myself buying too many games. I got over 120 Wii games.

  • @stringanime Indeed. I'll admit it was GameFan magazine back in the day that helped inform me of all of these great titles that I felt none of my other non-GameFan reading friends new about. It was like I was in some secret club where only I knew about these other kick-ass games existing!

  • @Suplexmachine It's crazy when you think about it, we all started out as Non-niche, then we were exposed to very nicely programmed games with great artwork and sound. Lucky or not, I can't help but think we are niche simply because we found the games others didn't.

  • @stringanime Yep. I agree. That's why we are called niche gamers. =)

  • @Suplexmachine The classic games I mentioned could have been made 3D like Mario 64 or Metal Gear, it wouldn't have mattered. Tight challenging well crafted arcade action games just aren't in. Retarding slow moving games about Spies and Zombies in a sandbox are in. People don't care how evolved fundamental gameplay is, they just want what they want. I am used to my favs getting ignored.

  • @stringanime Actually, those games not being ported to English wouldn't have made a difference. Maybe Shining Force 3 scenario 2 & 3 because RPG's finally started to catch on with FFVII...but most American gamers didn't want to play 2D games like Leynos 2, Silhouette Mirage, Radiant Silvergun, or Psychic Killer Taromaru. They wanted 3D games like Mario 64, Crash Bandicoot, Resident Evil, Banjo Kazooie, and Metal Gear Solid. 3D was starting to take over, 2D wasn't cool anymore =(
