The WHRL from http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/ is a kind of fuzzy overdrive that works equally well on either the clean or dirty channels of an amp. The amount of distortion isn't tremendous but the quality of it is unique and useful. While demonstrating on the dirty channel, the gain ("soak") on my amp is set a notch below 2. 5/1/09: I have been using the WHRL behind my distortion stompboxes as a boost for solos. It works really well for that too giving a practically infinite amount of volume boost to play with but also adds a tinge of midrange for bringing the solos out front.

  • @whrLL Funny. "Way Huge Red Llama"

  • This is one great stomp box!! Can`t wait to get mine.

  • @sk8erHyde13: It's fun stuff for sure. I'm always looking forward to the next build.

  • @vetzaaak I can get a little talkative. I'm trying to explain all I can and show versatility. The camera mic is cheap. I've got a Q3 now that sounds a ton better but lacks in vid quality. Eventually, I'll make shorter demos with that and talk less :)

  • @jwyatt4 now that i look back on it, the painting isnt that bad. anyway, i love this pedal. its my favorite one i own. sounds like an overdrive from heaven

  • @jwyatt4

Just a suggestion ofcourse, but when I finally get around doing some demos of my stuff I plan on just using audio recorded with my apogee duet and sm57. Don't need a camera to show a pedal sitting still for 5 minutes. I'd just add text at the bottom to explain what settings ae being used...

  • @neutron54 Painting is tough. When I build them for others, I don't bother because of the hassle.

  • @AntonioCavicchioni I had the same problem you did with two kits from GGG.(You think I would have learned after troubleshooting the first one). One of the solder tabs on the input or output jacks was coming in contact with the back plate on the bottom of the pedal causing it to ground out. Being that your post was 9 months ago, I'm sure you've long since fixed it, but this is more for other people with the same issue. Next time I build one I'll keep that in mind for sure!

  • im currently building this. just finished painting. did a crap job on it though :/
