  • Ime sorry but thats the way the german shepherd is now the topline has evolved and thats how german shepherds are so if you like flat back german shepherds then thats your choice but my mum and dad have been breeding since 1992 and they should know whats good and bad for our breed.

  • mariahkoskinas you must be too use to german show lines. The majority of the German working lines, Czech working lines, or West German working lines do not have extreme slopes like American or German show lines. You did have pictures of working line dogs...working so no one is seeing their top line. The majority of show lines also do not have as much intensity or courage in their work either. They hit slower, and many back down from REAL courage tests.

  • No not at all ive been around dogs that have come from some super working lines for example jack vom teikerhook , nick vom helingbosch and so on and actually you are pretty wrong about the ....

  • fact that show type back down because one of the dogs we bred in our last litter is pure german lines(show) and he wouldnt back down to anything we do schutzhund with him and he is a very inteligent able dog although i do understand that sables and working dogs are much better in away because they have a better working ability but show bred ones are just as able....

  • So you do Schutzhund, was your dog worked with in prey drive or did he ever work in defense? I'm familiar with Nick, I'm familiar with a lot of Tiekerhook dogs, in fact I almost got one myself. Instead I got a male pup out of Mambo z pohranicni straze. I know not ALL working lines have straight backs, Mambos isn't completely straight, I'm just saying many I've seen do. And I don't mean ALL show lines will back down or aren't as good...just the majority are not.

  • Oh yeaa i completley agree that the majority are not and that is because the dogs are lazy but breed dogs are actually good workers like any dog if you start with them early enough they will get the taste for it.

  • a working shepherd is the only shepherd, arched backs look silly and are breeding out the good characteristics of the GSD, it makes mobility compromised from the start. Michael Jordan wouldn't have been the athlete he was with a crooked spine.

  • The real German Shepherd is a large dog with lots of muscles and no slopping hips. This is the dog that the German captain had in mind.

  • @Leprechaun79 The Martin brothers have ruined the breed before the Americans

  • the REAL GS dog has nothing to do with the show line GS dog.

  • @mariahkoskinas thats not very long to be breeding ... truth is square back is athletic much better for work... I didn't see any dogs on ther i would own wtf

  • @mariahkoskinas no offense but they need to get back to the basics of what Captain Max Von Stephanitz started out with. sloping topline and "floating hips" are not good for the breed no matter what anyone says. My 15 mo Pohranicni Straze line GSD will run circles around any show dog all day long and look good doing it.

  • @sheeeve08 agreed, my czech line german shepherd has a flat top line.

  • @Leprechaun79 The German show dogs are only marginally better.

  • what the second song?

  • A real frog, i mean dog.
