EMS Vocoder-System 2000B Mk2 / Roland SVC-350 Vocoder

Intromix's EMS Vocoder-System 2000B Mk2 using his Oberheim OB-8 Synthesizer as its carrier input. Also my Roland SVC-350 Vocoder using my Korg Poly-800 Synthesizer as its carrier input.

Note: the Cylon Centurians in the original-series version of 'Battlestar Galactica' used the EMS Vocoder 2000W Mk1 (beta-version).

Dude, I love the voice. Taking me back to the original Battlestar Galactica. How much does one of these vocoders cost?

The EMS Vocoder 2000 (which is what was used for the Cylons in the original Battlestar Galactica, although they used the beta-version of the MkI and this is the MkII) costs somewhere between $1200 to $2400 I would guess. The Roland costs between $800 and $1400 (but sometimes you can get one for less, if you're lucky). But one would have to wonder about the condition of one being sold for less than $1000. Chances are it WON'T be mint or near-mint for less than a grand. So if you want either...

and you also want them in mint or near-mint condition, expect to pay over a grand for the Roland and closer to two grand or more for the EMS. Unless again you're lucky enough to come across someone (on eBay or Craigslist, etc...) who needs the money and/or doesn't know how much these are truly worth.

Ive got a question - is Roland SVC350 only a vocoder or it has choir and string sounds as in VP 330? Regards!

It's only a vocoder, but it does have an ensemble (choir) plug that one operates via a foot-switch. The only way for it to have string-sound is if a string-synth or some other string instrument is connected to it (there is no keyboard as in the VP-330). It's a stand-alone hardware vocoder.
