Do you know that the Health Sciences Authority (HSA of Singapore)

recalled 3 products containing Chlorhexidine (news from

Lian He Wanbao, 31st Dec 2010)? According to the news, people who

feel sick after using any of these products (anti-bacterial wipes,

gargles or mouthwash), were advised to see a doctor immediately.

"Hexodane contains 0.5% of Chlorhexidine gluconate in ethanol and 70% moisturiser.... Chlorhexidene gluconate kills yeasts but does not prevent the germination of bacterial spores."

Hexodane is commonly found in modern anti-bacterial handwash. And a lot of these handwash - if you look carefully - are not recommended for those under 2 years of age (that includes babies).

Be careful, some anti-bacterial wash actually strips off ALL bacteria. Our skin is protected by microflora of good germs. Without the good germs, where's the protection?
