I remember this little movie thing from the Gradius Collection. Gradius II is incredible. It's one of my favorite Gradius games, along with Gradius Gaiden and Gradius IV.
And I love, love this intro.

Oops wrong video was thinking of the Gradius 2 Duo port, this opening video was also included as a bonus on the PSP Gradius Collection, I for one am glad they put that video in along with the other 3 Gradius videos.

They basically removed the demo mode of Gradius 2, and added a whole lot of awesome to the demo itself. Kickass music track as well.
