My Aliens Cabinet Build. This is the 3rd Cabinet Project I have built. I still have a lot to learn but this is the first cab I actually have some pride in building.

Lighting is as follows:

- Two 12v 15" Neon Green Speaker Rings
- 12 Novagem buttons from www.groovygamegear.com
- RGB Trackball Lighting Kit

Cabinet is laminated with Flat Black and uses Galaxian Green T Molding. Bezel is tempered smoky gray glass. Although not showing here the back still has to be added over the next few weeks.

  • Hey there I'm looking to purchase a MAME arcade cabinet in July or August 2012. Any interest in selling yours or cusome building one for me?

  • @josh3096

At 15 it would be an awesome project to do with your Dad...i knew next to nothing about woodwork when I did my first arcade cabinet (this was my 3rd) and it turned out "ok" but it was a blast. My daughter is 15 and while she didn't help with the building she plays on it quite a bit!

Either way 15 is old enough for woodworking so I wouldn't worry and don't be intimidated just follow the safety stuff and the rest just take your time...measure twice cut once! Good luck!

  • @Epyx911 thanks and would it be to hard for a 15 year old to do...my dad would build the actual wood part???

  • @Epyx911

What is more difficult to factor is your labour cost or time spent :) That would easily add up to the most if you were paying yourself anything other than 3rd world wages :)

IE I likely spent 100+ hours on the cab total build time

  • @josh3096 I didn't formally track it but a rough guesstimate: $400 for the arcade monitor $500 for the computer $ 100 for the wood $110 for the black laminate $75 for buttons and joysticks $40 for the USB arcade joystick button controller $20 for the joystick modifications $10 for the used coin door $50 for the glass bezel cover $20 for the wiring $25 for the speakers $20 for odd tool bits $75 for Castor wheels for base of cab $50 for sideart printing and marquee $40 for Neon Rings so $1500
  • how much did you spend

  • @musicmnn

Thanks taking a look now although the awesome Warhammer figs got me sidetracked. Sweet cab...love Marvel! Nice work!
