how do i know how much floor for mi room?

is there a way to work it out after i measure the room?

@vibezzable floors are commonly sold by square footage. If your room is not a square or rectangle, it is probably easiest to break it up into square/rectangle/triangle shapes and add up the area of those squares/rectangles/triangles.

Length x width = area of square or rectangle

So if you have a 12'x10' room = 120 square feet

For a triangle shape, you will have to divide by two.

can anyone tell me why you need an expension gap for laminate foors,I know that wood expands and contracts,but isnt this mdf?

@tomsacadden since mdf and hdf are wood-based, they will still expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity...though a lot less than natural wood floors. If there is no space for the floor to expand into, it could buckle or experience other warping/damages. The 1/4" space will be covered by moulding, so no need to worry about the appearance afterwards. Also remember to attach mouldings to the walls and not the floor.

Hold it, HOLD IT!! This video just glazed over THE MOST critical and EXCRUCIATINGLY DIFFICULT part of installing this crappy type of flooring. On the 2nd piece of the 2nd row is where the nightmare begins. HOW THE HELL do you get 2 SIDES (???????!!!!!!!) to so gracefully snap into place like that??? Never happens, my friends. This flooring is a NIGHTMARE to install. It was so bad I actually paid $113 to ship it back. I'll NEVER do it again in my life. NOTHING beats granite.

Sorry to hear you had such difficulty. This video is intended to serve as a visual guide only, complementary to any written installation instructions included with your flooring which will have more detail. What exact kind of flooring did you have? Some floors with lock systems may require tapping in the locks, which may be a possible reason for any difficulties you may have had.  Keep in mind the video is animated and steps presented may appear basic compared to "real life."
