  • He proposed to her many times & she married someone else & had a child. Then years later their love was consummated, only once, & they realized they could never be together. That what was built up in the mind could never be matched in the flesh. Too true of love.

  • In but a few lines Yeats succeeds in describing beautifully and painfully a thousand thoughts I have had about a special person.
