This is the Natta Adavu in classical Indian dance of Bharatanatyam."Natta" means to stretch and so the Adavu involves some stretching to form beautiful patterns.

  • r u interested for teaching dance?

  • @joyati1000 I am already teaching.

  • I need a video on how to get that great foot slap sound. Maybe my feet are too boney? All I get is a dull thud :(

  • @haffgaff you really dont have to focus on hard foot work. Just go by what is comfortable. Sometime hard strikes may hurt.

  • i wouldn't do this because if you learn like this it would take years just to learn classical dances LOL!

  • Yes it takes years to learn classical dance. I am still a student of this divine art. While there is no substitute to the traditional Guru-Shishya (Teacher-Student) way of imparting this knowledge, the content here can supplement and help a new learner understand the basics. The goal is to provide useful information on Bharatanatyam accessible online for a global audience.

In my country, we have less chances to learn Indian classical dance.
